Deposit required for opening a bank account with a Hungarian bank.

One of the conditions for opening new accounts with most Hungarian banks is the placing of a deposit of between 300 and 10,000 US dollars in the account (the amount, as well as the time within which the deposit must be placed in the account, varies from bank to bank). As a rule the deposit may decrease, i.e. it may be used in the financial transactions of the company; in this case, it is only the fact of putting the required amount into the account at the time of its opening which is important for the bank. Failure to place the required deposit may lead to the bank closing the account.
